Formation of the Laboratory of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy

The Laboratory for Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (LGA) at the Higher Education Centre Sežana was established by the Council of the Higher Education Centre Sežana in the autumn of 2008. It had already come into being many months before through the purchase of basic measuring equipment for the measurements of absolute values of the geomagnetic field. In 2008, with this equipment and in cooperation with foreign geomagnetic observatories, the LGA carried out the first complete geomagnetic measurements in the Republic of Slovenia.

In 2008 the LGA organised an International Scientific Conference Magnetism – Geomagnetism – Biomagnetism 2008 in cooperation with foreign and domestic research institutions.

In 2010 – 2012 the Laboratory focused on the building of the Sinji Vrh Geomagnetic Observatory, above Ajdovščina. You can read more about the construction in the articles.
